Knights of Columbus

St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church | Martinsville, Indiana

The Knights of Columbus (St. Martin Council #6273) goal is to help men, their families and the Saint Martin Of Tours Parish grow closer to Christ. Through our programs and resources, we provide opportunities to live and spread the Catholic faith. We are a group of Catholic men who strive to do our best.

Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families.   Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood.

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. The St. Martin of Tours Council of the Knights of Columbus is involved with all aspects of Parish Life, and if you are a man who is 18 years or older, we would love to have you join! We meet on the Second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Sexton Hall.

Activities throughout the year include: Fellowship Breakfast the 2nd Sunday of every month, Senior Breakfast, Ham and Bean Supper, OktoberFest, St. Patrick’s Day Irish Stew Dinner, the Servers’ Recognition Picnic, annual Parish Picnic, Superbowl pizza fundraiser, Friday Fish Fry throughout Lent, Tootsie Roll fundraiser to support disabled persons in Morgan County, Ice Cream booth fundraiser at the Morgan County Fair, and The Kozmar Scholarship.
