From the moment of our founding in 1882, charity has been the first principle of the Knights of Columbus. We are Catholic men of faith and men of charitable action. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
St. Martin of Tours Conference – Parish Partner
Inspired by Gospel values, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is an international organization of men and women joined together in spiritual growth, dedicated to offering person-to-person service to those who are in need, living on the margins, or experiencing homelessness. SVdP was founded in Paris, in the year 1833.
For almost 200 years, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been actively serving the most vulnerable communities throughout the United States. In 2018, The Society’s nearly 100,000 trained volunteers throughout the United States provided 12.5 million hours of volunteer service, helping more than 5.4 million people.
Since January, 2023, our St. Vincent de Paul Society conference members and volunteer St. Martin of Tours parishioners have provided sack lunches for our neighbors in need who visit the
food pantry at Red Barn. On the first and third Tuesdays each month, after the
morning mass, 30 sandwiches are prepared at St. Martin’s Ed Center.
These include a sandwich, chips, fruit or cookies. A prayer about love is also
included. Chris Urbanowski coordinates the volunteers,
and new parishioners are always welcome to help.
Jesus said, “For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat…” Matthew 24:35
Parish volunteers are welcomed. Donations are gratefully accepted .
